Privacy
Last updated: 6 May 2026
BookletMaker is designed around the principle that your documents are yours and should never leave your devices. This page describes exactly what data the app touches and what it does with it.
Data we don't collect
- We do not collect, transmit, or store the contents of your PDFs.
- We do not have user accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
- We do not run analytics on your documents, page counts, layouts, presets, or anything else inside the app.
- We do not share data with advertising networks, data brokers, or any third parties.
What runs on your device
All imposition, OCR, find & replace, annotation, and export operations are performed locally using Apple's PDFKit, Vision, and Core Graphics frameworks. Output PDFs and exported images stay in the location you choose via the system file picker.
iCloud preset sync (optional)
If you have iCloud Drive enabled on your device, BookletMaker may sync your saved imposition presets across your devices via the NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore API. Only preset names and settings are stored — never document content.
"Rewrite with Claude" (optional)
BookletMaker includes an optional in-app feature that sends a selected snippet of text to Anthropic's Claude API for rewriting suggestions. This feature is opt-in. Your Claude API key is stored in the macOS / iOS Keychain. Only the selected text snippet is sent. If you never tap "Rewrite with Claude", no network call is made.
Crash logs
If you opt in to share diagnostics with Apple via Settings → Privacy & Security, Apple may collect crash reports for BookletMaker like any other app. Mobile Alchemy receives these reports anonymized via App Store Connect to fix bugs.
Third-party services
BookletMaker uses no third-party SDKs, analytics, or advertising services. The app is a single static binary plus Apple system frameworks.
Children's privacy
BookletMaker is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
